Central Control Room Operator

About the role

The Central Control Room Operator (CRO) is responsible for overseeing the day‑to‑day operation of a modern cogeneration, gas‑turbine and desalination plant from the control room. The CRO ensures that power and water production meet availability, reliability, efficiency and cost targets while adhering to strict safety and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the plant within defined parameters, monitoring alarms, performance data and responding to emergencies.
• Execute safe start‑up, shutdown and change‑over procedures for power and water generation equipment.
• Perform periodic plant tests, trip‑device verification and standby equipment checks to maintain reliability.
• Analyse performance trends, initiate corrective actions and prepare shift, trip and production reports.
• Coordinate with field operators, maintenance teams and external control centres (Power, Gas, Sea Water & Water) for planned and unplanned maintenance.
• Raise work orders, track defect resolution and ensure compliance with the Integrated Management System (IMS) and safety documentation.

Required profile

• Proven experience in operating modern cogeneration, gas‑turbine or desalination facilities.
• Strong understanding of safety, environmental regulations and IMS compliance.
• Ability to work in a high‑pressure control‑room environment and make timely decisions.
• Good communication skills for liaising with shift engineers, maintenance crews and external control centres.
