Chief Accountant – Contracting & O&M

About the role

Nafoud Al Athereia Contracting Company is looking for an experienced finance professional to lead its accounting function across contracting, infrastructure and Operations & Maintenance projects in Riyadh. The Chief Accountant will oversee daily accounting, financial closing, budgeting and project‑cost accounting while ensuring compliance and clear performance visibility.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily accounting operations and manage the accounting team.
• Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, payroll, employee advances, petty cash and bank reconciliations.
• Lead monthly, quarterly and annual financial closing processes and ensure accurate entries.
• Prepare annual budgets, forecasts, cash‑flow projections and variance analyses.
• Maintain cost centres for projects and monitor actual costs against approved budgets.
• Produce project profitability reports, analyse revenue, direct costs and overhead allocation.
• Review project invoices, retentions, advances and related accounting entries.
• Ensure proper accounting for work‑in‑progress, revenue recognition and cost allocation.
• Manage customer collections, supplier payments and working‑capital requirements.
• Coordinate with Treasury on bank accounts, financing facilities and related reconciliations.
• Prepare periodic financial statements, management reports and performance dashboards.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, delegation limits and tax requirements (VAT, withholding tax, Zakat).
• Liaise with external auditors and provide required schedules and confirmations.

Required profile

• Experienced finance professional with proven leadership of accounting teams.
• Strong knowledge of accounting standards, project accounting and cost control.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced contracting and O&M environment.
