Chief Officer (Non-DP AHTSS)

About the role

POSH Fleet Services is looking for a Chief Officer for its fleet of vessels, based in Dammam. The Chief Officer manages the deck department and assists the Master in the safe and efficient operation of the vessel, reporting to the Master and coordinating with technical and shore-based teams. The role covers deck operations, cargo, safety and stability, and the Chief Officer becomes the Master and Safety Officer in the Master's absence.

Key responsibilities

• Manage deck operations, cargo handling and stowage, and dangerous goods including the hazardous materials/COSHH database
• Plan anchor handling, allocate deck crew work and ensure rest-hour requirements are met
• Supervise, train and evaluate deck personnel, including cadets, and advise the Master on their performance
• Act as Stability Section Leader and carry out ballasting and de-ballasting to transit draught
• Ensure compliance with IMCA guidelines for dynamic positioning and gangway/lift plans, and follow the Permit to Work system
• Maintain fire, safety, security and emergency equipment, and refuse unsafe work
• Keep logbooks, cargo space, lifting and towing equipment records, and the Garbage Management Plan and record book up to date
• Sound tanks, cofferdams and bilges daily, maintain watertight integrity and ensure pollution prevention measures are in place
• Organize drills and exercises as required by SOLAS, ISM and ISPS codes
• Handle deck stores, spares and paints, and prepare requisitions and appraisal reports

Required profile

• Certificate of Competency as per STCW Regulation II, with valid medical certificate
• DP Unlimited license (where applicable) and DP experience as per IMCA M 117
• Ship Security Officer certificate as per STCW Regulation VI/5
• At least 12 months of experience in rank and a similar type of vessel
• Ability to work in offshore, port and confined-space environments, including adverse weather

Preferred skills

• Experience with offshore support vessels, AHTS, tankers or energy-sector operations, including specialty cargo systems and dynamic cargo operations
• Training in advanced cargo handling, stability management, tankerman procedures and leadership
• Familiarity with electronic cargo planning tools, stability software and bridge systems
