Commercial Director

About the role

The Commercial Director will shape and execute the organisation's commercial strategy, ensuring profitable growth and strong stakeholder relationships. This senior position oversees contract negotiation, pricing, risk management and commercial governance across mega‑project contracts.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement commercial strategies aligned with company objectives and long‑term growth.
• Lead negotiation and management of service, partnership, lease, supply and development contracts.
• Oversee pricing models, cost structures and revenue planning to maintain profitability and competitive positioning.
• Monitor commercial performance, analyse financial indicators and recommend improvements.
• Assess and mitigate commercial risks, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory and internal frameworks.
• Support tendering and bidding processes with commercial input, including pricing structures and risk allocation.
• Manage claims, variations and dispute resolution in collaboration with legal, operational and finance teams.
• Build, lead and develop a high‑performing commercial team.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, vendors and other stakeholders.
• Drive commercial governance, reporting and transparency in line with corporate policies.
• Contribute to HSE initiatives and safety awareness activities.

Required profile

• 18‑20 years of relevant experience, including 3‑5 years as a Director in a mega‑contracting environment.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; Law degree acceptable.
• Professional chartered membership (e.g., CIOB, RICS) or equivalent qualification.
