Computing Instructor – IT, CS & Software Engineering

About the role

The Computing Instructor will deliver introductory courses that introduce students to the core concepts of Information Technology, Software Engineering, and Computer Science. The role helps students understand each pathway, explore career options, and develop foundational computational thinking skills.

Key responsibilities

• Teach introductory computing courses such as Foundations of Computing, Introduction to ICT Disciplines, Computing Thinking & Problem Solving, and Computing Careers & Pathways.
• Deliver engaging instruction covering algorithms, data representation, networks, and cybersecurity basics.
• Explain distinctions between IT, Software Engineering, and Computer Science using case studies, industry examples, labs, and projects.
• Guide students on career pathways, industry roles, and emerging technologies.
• Participate in curriculum development, lesson planning, and continuous program improvement.
• Create an inclusive learning environment, provide office hours, academic advising, and support students overcoming computing anxiety.
• Assess student progress through formative and summative methods and provide constructive feedback.
• Collaborate with program faculty, maintain records of attendance and progress, and engage in department meetings and professional development.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Technology.
