Computing Instructor

About the role

The Computing Instructor delivers introductory courses that introduce students to the core concepts of Information Technology, Software Engineering, and Computer Science. The role helps learners understand the distinctions between these pathways, explore real‑world applications, and develop foundational computational thinking skills.

Key responsibilities

• Teach introductory computing courses such as Foundations of Computing, Introduction to ICT Disciplines, Computing Thinking & Problem Solving, or Computing Careers & Pathways.
• Explain the differences between IT (systems management), Software Engineering (software design and development), and Computer Science (theoretical foundations).
• Use case studies, industry examples, hands‑on labs, and projects to contextualize learning.
• Guide students on career pathways, industry roles, and emerging technologies.
• Participate in curriculum development and continuous program improvement.
• Create an inclusive learning environment, provide office‑hour support, and advise on major selection.
• Assess student progress through formative and summative methods and give constructive feedback.
• Collaborate with faculty across IT, Software Engineering, and Computer Science programs.
• Maintain records of attendance and student performance and engage in department meetings.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
