Consultant – Ophthalmology

About the role

The Consultant in Ophthalmology provides expert clinical care for diagnosis, treatment and management of eye and vision disorders. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the role combines direct patient care with telehealth services to ensure high‑quality outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive eye examinations and use diagnostic tools such as slit‑lamp examination, tonometry and fundus photography.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including medication, laser therapy and surgical interventions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare professionals, attend team meetings and coordinate referrals.
• Ensure adherence to clinical protocols, participate in quality‑assurance initiatives and report adverse events.
• Promote patient safety, gather feedback and address concerns to improve satisfaction.

Required profile

• Board Certified in Ophthalmology and registered with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties as an Ophthalmology Consultant.
• Strong clinical judgment, decision‑making ability and experience performing ophthalmic procedures and surgeries.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and mentorship of junior staff.

Required skills

• Proficiency with video conferencing platforms for telehealth consultations.
• Experience using electronic health records (EHR) systems.
• Skilled in slit‑lamp examination, tonometry and fundus photography.
