Data Center BAS Operator

About the role

The Data Center BAS Operator ensures continuous operation of the Building Automation System (BAS) and associated critical infrastructure in a 24/7 mission‑critical data centre. Working under the Data Center Facility Engineer, the role monitors HVAC, power, cooling, fire detection, and environmental systems to guarantee maximum uptime and compliance with data centre standards.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and operate the Building Management System (BMS) around the clock, responding to alarms and abnormal conditions.
• Oversee critical equipment including chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, UPS systems, PDUs, generators, electrical switchgear, and fire alarm/suppression systems.
• Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and coordinate with facilities, mechanical, electrical, and operations teams.
• Maintain accurate incident logs, shift handover reports, and generate performance trend reports.
• Support planned preventive and corrective maintenance, reviewing permits, method statements, and risk assessments.
• Follow safety procedures such as LOTO and Permit‑to‑Work, and assist with audits and business continuity activities.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of experience monitoring and operating data centre or critical facility systems.
• Strong understanding of BAS/BMS concepts and ability to work in a 24/7 environment.
• Attention to detail and ability to document incidents and generate reports.
• Familiarity with safety and regulatory procedures in a data centre setting.
