Data Engineering Team Leader

About the role

The Data Engineering Team Leader will act as the primary data owner for a banking division, representing business interests in executive governance committees and ensuring data stewardship aligns with enterprise standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and enforce data stewardship policies, procedures, and controls for all data sources within the division.
• Manage day‑to‑day data stewardship activities, ensuring compliance with established processes.
• Serve as the single point of contact for business data needs, liaising between business units and data management teams.
• Represent the division in the Enterprise Data Governance Committee and promote consistent data standards.
• Educate business units on the importance of data and information for decision‑making.
• Lead, coach, and evaluate a team of enterprise data stewards to achieve unit objectives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Management Systems, Computer Science or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• 6‑8 years of experience in data and information management within the banking sector.
• Strong understanding of bank strategy, regulations, and project management.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting to senior management.
