Data Protection Specialist

About the role

Albawani is seeking a Data Protection Specialist to implement and maintain Microsoft Purview solutions across its enterprise environment. The role will focus on applying sensitivity labels, DLP policies, encryption, and monitoring to ensure data security and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Apply sensitivity labels and DLP policies to data and documents.
• Encrypt sensitive information in cloud and on‑premises environments.
• Implement data classification frameworks using Microsoft Purview.
• Track data access and usage via Purview audit logs.
• Detect, report, and remediate security breaches or policy violations.
• Generate operational compliance reports and manage data retention, deletion, and eDiscovery policies.
• Ensure day‑to‑day compliance with GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2 and internal rules.
• Integrate Purview with Microsoft 365 security tools and approved third‑party solutions.
• Perform routine system maintenance, configuration updates, and documentation of Purview settings.
• Assist users in following correct data handling procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity or a related field.
• 1–2 years of hands‑on experience with Microsoft Purview.
• Experience in operational governance and compliance.
• Preferred certifications: Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert (MS‑102) or Microsoft Information Protection Administrator (SC‑400).

• Microsoft Purview (data classification, sensitivity labeling, DLP, encryption).
• Microsoft 365 security tools.
• Azure services (Azure AD, Defender for Cloud).
• PowerShell scripting.
• Understanding of data retention, eDiscovery, and regulatory frameworks (GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2).
