Dental Assistant – General Practice

About the role

We are looking for a Dental Assistant to provide complete chair‑side support to a general or specialist dentist in a busy clinical setting. The role involves assisting during diagnostic, operative, surgical and preventive procedures while ensuring patient comfort and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and dismiss patients, manage instrument cleaning and equipment disinfection.
• Assist the dentist by retracting tissues, irrigating and aspirating during examinations and treatments.
• Provide post‑operative instructions and educate patients on home care.
• Maintain accurate patient records, update medical histories and flag significant health issues.
• Support the dental team with supply ordering and inventory management.
• Respond to medical emergencies using First Aid and CPR until further help arrives.
• Perform expanded‑duty procedures under dentist supervision as required.

Required profile

• Diploma in Dental Assisting or related field.
• 2–5 years of clinical experience in a dental practice.
• Fluent spoken and written English and Arabic.
• Proficiency with office and health information systems.

Required skills

• Four‑handed dentistry and chairside assistance techniques.
• Instrument sterilization and point‑of‑use cleaning.
• First Aid and Cardio‑Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
• Use of dental health information software.
