Design Engineer - Pressure Vessels, Storage Tanks and Heat Exchangers

About the role

ABIS is hiring a Design Engineer in Al Jubail, based on site, within its ABIS / Support Services department. The engineer designs pressure vessels, storage tanks and heat exchangers to ASME, API and TEMA standards, ensuring compliance with Saudi Aramco requirements and client-specific certifications.

Key responsibilities

• Perform mechanical calculations using PV Elite, COMPRESS or similar tools
• Manage and review outsourced design deliverables, support bid evaluations, scope reviews and client clarifications
• Coordinate with QA/QC on inspection and material compliance
• Prepare nozzle loadings, supports, weld designs and assembly drawings
• Provide fabrication support, resolve shop floor queries and integrate design documents into complete project engineering deliverables

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) from a recognised university
• Minimum 5-10 years of experience designing pressure vessels, storage tanks and/or heat exchangers in an EPC, fabrication or oil & gas engineering environment
• Prior experience on Saudi Aramco or similar major oil & gas projects strongly preferred
• Experience reviewing or managing outsourced design deliverables is an advantage

Required skills

• ASME Section VIII (Div. 1 & 2), Section II & IX, API 650/620/660/661 and TEMA standards
• PV Elite, COMPRESS or equivalent pressure vessel and heat exchanger design software
• AutoCAD and/or 3D modelling software for drawing review and markup
• Saudi Aramco engineering standards (SAES/SAEP series) and material specifications
• Welding processes, weld joint design and NDE/inspection requirements
• Strong analytical ability, attention to detail and coordination across engineering, QA/QC, procurement and fabrication teams
