Director, Federations Program

About the role

The Director, Federations Program leads the strategic oversight and performance management of National Federations across Olympic and Paralympic disciplines. Reporting to SOPC leadership, the role ensures alignment with national priorities, drives governance improvements, and supports sustainable high‑performance sport ecosystems.

Key responsibilities

• Guide National Federations in aligning their strategic plans with SOPC’s long‑term objectives, ensuring athlete‑centered and results‑driven programs.
• Oversee the development and evaluation of athlete development pathways, coordinating with SOPC, international federations, and talent identification initiatives.
• Design and implement an integrated performance monitoring system, including KPIs, benchmarking, and continuous review protocols.
• Identify capacity gaps in federation governance and lead improvement initiatives, providing standardized tools and reporting templates.
• Act as the primary liaison between SOPC and federations, fostering strong relationships, mentorship, and resource guidance.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with Legal, Finance, Technical Advisory, and PMO teams to ensure compliance and resource alignment.
• Consolidate federation performance data and present strategic insights to senior leadership, recommending adjustments to the overall federations strategy.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in sports administration, federation management, or a related high‑performance environment.
• Strong understanding of Olympic and Paralympic governance standards and national sport policy frameworks.
• Demonstrated ability to lead strategic planning, performance monitoring, and capacity‑building initiatives.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience representing an organization in multi‑federation forums.
