Director of Collections

About the role

The Director of Collections will lead the curatorial vision for a new landmark museum in Riyadh, supporting Saudi Vision 2030. Reporting to the Senior Director of Collections and Exhibitions, the role oversees the development, research, presentation and digital accessibility of the museum's global collection.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement collection acquisition strategies aligned with the museum’s thematic narrative.
• Set standards, guidelines and tools for acquisitions, loans and research.
• Design and execute a comprehensive academic research and publication plan for the collection.
• Ensure research informs all interpretive content across physical and digital platforms.
• Create a business plan, functional objectives and KPIs for the Collections department.
• Drive achievement of collection‑related KPIs and monitor performance.
• Build and maintain long‑term partnerships with public and private collections worldwide to secure major loans.
• Foster international curatorial networks and collaborative research initiatives.

Required profile

• Minimum of 96 months (8 years) of experience in museum collections management, acquisition or curatorial leadership.
