Director of Data

About the role

HALA, a fast‑growing fintech serving SMEs across the MENAP region, is looking for a Director of Data to shape and execute its enterprise data strategy. You will lead a multidisciplinary team and build a modern, secure data ecosystem that powers analytics, AI, reporting and operational decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement a data strategy aligned with HALA’s business goals and digital transformation roadmap.
• Build and maintain scalable data platforms, including data warehouses, data lakes and reliable pipelines integrating payments, merchant, financial, CRM and operational systems.
• Lead the Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, Analytics and Data Governance teams, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
• Ensure data quality, metadata management, master data management and data lifecycle processes.
• Collaborate with Engineering to set enterprise data architecture standards.
• Deliver executive dashboards and KPI reporting for senior leadership and board committees.
• Establish data governance policies, ownership models and compliance with SAMA, NCA Cybersecurity, PDPL and internal security standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 8‑10 years of progressive experience in Data Engineering, Analytics, Business Intelligence or Data Management.
• 5+ years in a leadership role managing enterprise‑scale data teams.
• Fintech, banking or financial‑services experience preferred.
• Fluent in English and Arabic.
