Director of Legal Affairs

About the role

The Director of Legal Affairs leads the company’s legal function, providing strategic guidance and ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. This senior position supports management and all departments on governance, contractual, regulatory, litigation, and investigative matters.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Legal Advisory section and oversee daily legal support activities.
• Provide legal advice on operational, strategic, regulatory, and commercial issues.
• Draft, review, negotiate and advise on contracts, agreements, MoUs, partnerships and other legal instruments.
• Support major projects and strategic partnerships from a legal risk perspective.
• Advise senior management on legal implications, obligations, liabilities and risk exposure.
• Ensure alignment of company activities with applicable laws, regulations, directives and governance requirements.
• Coordinate with external counsel and oversee the quality of external legal services.
• Assist in managing disputes, claims, investigations and legal notices.
• Develop and improve legal processes, templates, controls and contracting frameworks.
• Promote legal awareness and good governance practices across the organization.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in law or a related field (master’s preferred).
• 10‑15 years of relevant experience, including at least 4 years in a managerial role.
• Experience in a comparable sector is advantageous.
• Professional or academic certifications in law are preferred.
