Director of Rooms

About the role

The Director of Rooms leads the entire Rooms Division, ensuring seamless operations across Front Office, Housekeeping, Laundry, Spa, Recreation and related areas. This senior position is responsible for upholding brand standards, driving profitability, and delivering exceptional guest experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in the development and preparation of the hotel’s strategic plan.
• Prepare budgets, monitor revenues and assume profit‑and‑loss responsibility.
• Coordinate with Revenue Management and Sales to maximise occupancy, rates and overall profit.
• Control duty rosters, labour costs and productivity while maintaining quality standards.
• Conduct interviews, manage operational tasks, delegate responsibilities and follow up on execution.
• Re‑evaluate workflows, implement procedures and ensure compliance with safety measures.
• Communicate management strategy to department heads and staff, and lead regular departmental meetings.
• Maintain high visibility with guests and employees, conduct daily walk‑throughs and ensure cleanliness and technical readiness of all rooms‑division areas.
• Achieve and sustain an 85% score in LQA inspections and handle pre‑opening duties when required.

Required profile

• Extensive experience managing a hotel Rooms Division or similar multi‑department operation.
• Proven ability to develop budgets, control P&L and drive revenue optimisation.
• Strong leadership skills with experience in staff recruitment, training and performance management.
• Knowledge of safety standards and ability to enforce fire‑safety procedures.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with guests, employees and senior management.
