English Supervisor

About the role

The English Supervisor works closely with teachers and school leadership to maintain high standards of teaching and learning. This senior position oversees the English department, drives curriculum excellence, and supports staff development to improve student achievement.

Key responsibilities

• Assist senior leadership in ensuring high‑quality professional practice across the curriculum.
• Coordinate teaching and learning activities within the English subject area.
• Lead regular departmental meetings, record minutes, and follow up on actions.
• Visit classrooms, evaluate teaching practices, and provide constructive feedback.
• Prepare reports for the Head of School on curriculum status, instructional practices, and related matters.
• Conduct performance evaluations for department staff and mentor new teachers.
• Contribute to curriculum design, textbook selection, and resource procurement.
• Verify examination papers, coordinate marking schemes, and moderate assessment processes.
• Analyse student results data to inform instructional decisions.
• Advise on staff retention and termination based on performance reviews.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree minimum; Master’s degree preferred in the relevant subject area.
• At least 6 years of teaching experience, preferably across multiple phases.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication abilities.
• Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and multitasking skills.
• Critical thinking and problem‑solving capabilities.
