General Counsel – Senior Legal Leadership Role

About the role

Our client, a leading energy company, is looking for a seasoned General Counsel to head the legal function. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will provide strategic legal guidance across the organization and ensure compliance with all regulatory obligations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage all legal activities, supervising the Legal Manager and the broader legal team.
• Provide strategic advice to executive leadership on corporate, commercial, employment, and regulatory matters.
• Draft, review, negotiate, and oversee a wide range of contracts and legal agreements.
• Identify legal risks and develop practical mitigation strategies.
• Support corporate governance and align legal actions with board and executive decisions.
• Coordinate with external counsel and represent the company in legal discussions and negotiations.
• Keep the CEO informed of significant legal developments affecting the business and workforce.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law (mandatory).
• At least 18 years of legal experience, including 5+ years in a senior managerial or executive legal role.
• Strong background in corporate, commercial, and employment law.
• Experience in the energy, industrial, or offshore sectors is highly advantageous.
