Health & Safety Inspector – Saudi Construction Projects

About the role
WSP is looking for a Health & Safety Inspector to ensure that all on‑site construction and infrastructure activities comply with applicable HSE standards, regulations, codes and project requirements. The role supports a safe working environment, incident prevention and a strong safety culture across contractors and stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits and safety surveillance to identify unsafe conditions, acts and environmental risks.
- Verify that Risk Assessments, Method Statements, Job Hazard Analyses, Permit‑to‑Work systems and safe work procedures are in place, followed and documented.
- Monitor contractor compliance with PPE, housekeeping, scaffolding, lifting, work at height, confined space, hot work, electrical safety, fire protection, emergency response and environmental protection.
- Investigate accidents, incidents and near‑misses, perform root‑cause analysis and track corrective actions.
- Participate in safety inductions, toolbox talks, meetings and deliver HSE training for site staff and subcontractors.
- Maintain HSE documentation, inspection checklists, incident logs and prepare regular KPI reports.
- Support project meetings, client audits and regulatory inspections, highlighting performance trends and improvement opportunities.
- Monitor emergency preparedness and environmental compliance, ensuring waste segregation, spill control and dust/noise mitigation.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or related field.
- 5–10 years of HSE inspection experience on major construction/infrastructure projects in Saudi Arabia or the GCC.
- Relevant certifications such as NEBOSH IGC, IOSH Managing Safely; additional ISO 45001 Lead Auditor, Fire Warden or First Aid certifications are an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of Saudi HSE regulations, Saudi labour law (if applicable) and international standards (ISO 45001/14001).
