Hot Finishing Lines Manager

About the role

The Manager – Hot Finishing Lines will be responsible for the safe, efficient and reliable operation of the Hot Strip Rolling Line (HSRL) and Hot Skin Pass Mill (HSPM). The role leads day‑to‑day operations, ensuring production targets, product quality, plant availability, yield, safety and cost objectives are achieved while driving continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day operation of the HSRL and HSPM to meet production, quality, yield and availability targets.
• Manage and develop the Hot Finishing Lines team, including manpower planning, performance management and training.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures, operating standards and environmental requirements.
• Monitor and improve production performance, plant efficiency and operating costs.
• Identify and implement technical and operational improvements to boost quality, productivity and efficiency.
• Control consumption of raw materials, paint and consumables and manage cost control.
• Prepare and manage annual budgets, operational spares and consumables for the department.
• Collaborate with Maintenance to maximise equipment reliability, safety and plant availability.
• Coordinate with Production Planning and Raw Material teams to achieve production targets.
• Investigate equipment, process and material issues and implement corrective actions.
• Support resolution of customer complaints and ensure quality issues do not recur.
• Monitor KPIs and employee objectives, providing regular performance feedback.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical or Electrical Engineering with ~7+ years of flat‑steel rolling experience, or equivalent qualification with ~12+ years experience.
• Strong leadership experience managing production teams in a steel manufacturing environment.
• Deep technical knowledge of hot rolling processes and flat steel products.
• Proven ability to work with production KPIs, cost control and operational budgets.
• Excellent problem‑solving, analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
