Hydraulic Mechanic

About the role

The Hydraulic Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and drilling equipment used in mining and drilling operations. The role ensures maximum equipment availability, safety, and performance through proper maintenance and troubleshooting.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair diesel engines on heavy equipment and drill rigs.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic systems including pumps, motors, valves, and cylinders.
• Repair and maintain drilling equipment, compressors, and support machinery.
• Perform preventative maintenance on drill rigs and related equipment.
• Diagnose fuel system problems and inspect hydraulic components.
• Perform field breakdown repairs and emergency maintenance.

Required profile

• Diesel mechanic or heavy‑equipment mechanic certification.
• 3–7 years’ experience with drill rigs or heavy equipment.
• Experience with hydraulic systems and pumps.
• Ability to communicate in English and hold a driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of diesel engines and heavy‑equipment systems.
• Experience with hydraulic pumps, motors, control valves, and pressure testing equipment.
• Ability to read hydraulic and mechanical schematics.
• Familiarity with drill rigs, diesel generators, hydraulic power systems, and air compressors.
