Infection Control Specialist

About the role

The Infection Control Specialist supports the daily supervision of Fakeeh Care's Infection Control Program, ensuring that practices continuously prevent and minimize the spread of infections across the facility. The role involves close collaboration with healthcare teams, surveillance of patients, and coordination of outbreak investigations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain regular communication with all members of assigned healthcare teams through meetings and informal discussions.
• Assist in initiating and advising on precautions and isolation measures for transmissible diseases.
• Conduct daily surveillance of patients in assigned units to identify healthcare‑associated infections using established guidelines.
• Collect microbiological and related reports from the laboratory and prepare periodic infection‑related reports for committees.
• Participate in epidemiological investigations during outbreaks, clusters, or exposure incidents and help implement control measures.
• Educate staff, students, patients, relatives, and visitors on infection control and prevention practices.
• Monitor staff compliance with infection control practices through audits.
• Identify infection‑control risks, consult the Infection Control Team, and assist in developing improved procedures.
• Document and report notifiable diseases to health authorities.
• Assess environmental cleanliness, water quality, air quality, and conduct fungal cultures in high‑risk areas.
• Support healthcare waste program monitoring and ambulatory/home care infection control policies.
• Organize infection control committee meetings, preparing agendas, reports, and minutes.

Required profile

• Strong communication skills to interact with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
• Ability to collect, analyze, and report microbiological and infection‑surveillance data.
• Experience in conducting epidemiological investigations and implementing control measures.
• Knowledge of environmental monitoring, including water and air quality testing.
