Instrumentation Engineer

About the role

The Instrumentation Engineer will be responsible for the design, specification, and lifecycle support of instrumentation and control systems for oil and gas projects in Dhahran. The role covers all phases from FEED through commissioning, ensuring seamless integration with PLC, DCS, SCADA and safety systems.

Key responsibilities

• Select, size and specify field instruments such as pressure, temperature, flow and level transmitters, switches and elements.
• Develop instrument datasheets, loop diagrams, instrument index, I/O lists, hook‑up drawings and installation details.
• Integrate instruments with PLC, DCS, SCADA and SIS/ESD systems and develop calibration and inspection test plans.
• Participate in HAZOP, SIL assessments and functional safety reviews as the instrumentation discipline lead.
• Prepare and review supplier data, vendor documentation and technical bid evaluations.
• Support FAT, IFAT, SAT and pre‑commissioning activities and provide troubleshooting and technical support during operations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical, Control Systems or Mechatronics Engineering.
• Minimum four years of instrumentation engineering experience in oil and gas, petrochemical or industrial projects.

Required skills

• Instrument datasheet and loop diagram development.
• I/O list and hook‑up drawing preparation.
• Knowledge of IEC and ISA instrumentation standards.
• Experience with HART, Foundation Fieldbus and Modbus communication protocols.
• Understanding of functional safety standards IEC 61508 and IEC 61511 for SIS integration.
