Junior Testing & Commissioning Engineer (Solar PV & Substations)

About the role

We are looking for a Junior Testing & Commissioning Engineer to support the commissioning of Solar PV plants and Substations. The role involves hands‑on testing, verification of electrical systems and ensuring safe, compliant commissioning in line with project specifications and standards.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Commissioning Manager/Lead in execution of T&C activities on‑site.
• Perform testing and commissioning of Solar PV systems and Substation equipment, including MV & LV switchgear, transformers, CTs, VTs, circuit breakers, inverters, SCADA systems and associated PV equipment.
• Conduct AC/DC scheme checks for switchgear and control panels.
• Carry out primary and secondary injection testing for protection systems.
• Operate testing equipment such as relay test kits, insulation testers and multimeters.
• Assist in major testing activities like stability tests and sensitivity checks.
• Verify control logic, interlocks and protection schemes, and support troubleshooting of electrical and control issues.
• Prepare and maintain test reports, commissioning documentation and as‑built (red mark‑up) drawings.
• Ensure strict adherence to HSE and site safety procedures.

Required profile

• Junior‑level engineer with a focus on testing and commissioning.
• Ability to support the Commissioning Manager/Lead and work collaboratively on‑site.
• Commitment to follow HSE and site safety procedures.

Required skills

• Relay testing (using relay test kits).
• Insulation testing.
• Multimeter operation.
• Primary and secondary injection testing for protection systems.
• AC/DC scheme checking for switchgear and control panels.
• Experience with MV & LV switchgear.
• Knowledge of power and auxiliary transformers.
• Familiarity with current transformers (CT) and voltage transformers (VT).
• Circuit breaker testing.
• Inverter commissioning.
• SCADA system testing.
• PV equipment testing and commissioning.
• MV & LV cable testing.
