Lead Mechanical Engineer - Rotating Equipment

About the role

ABIS is hiring a Lead Mechanical Engineer in Al Khobar, based on-site in the ABICON (Civil) department. The role leads the mechanical discipline with a focus on rotating equipment, with knowledge of static equipment as an added advantage. It involves active participation in proposals and bidding, engineering work in an EPC environment on one or more projects, and technical support during construction and commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, monitor and control all engineering activities of the Mechanical Discipline
• Coordinate across disciplines and support team-building exercises
• Proactively raise issues with management so remedial action can be taken on time
• Take part in progress, technical, client and vendor meetings
• Support procurement: material requisitions, technical bid clarification/evaluation and draft purchase requisitions
• Support the bidding team with RFQs, technical bid evaluation and cost estimates
• Answer construction site technical queries and review engineering deliverables
• Ensure safety and quality of deliverables, and take part in value engineering, risk assessment, constructability studies and lessons learned sessions
• Ensure customer satisfaction

Required profile

• More than 10 years of combined experience in Oil and Gas, Petrochemicals or Power industries
• Experience with GES Plus/EPC contractors on Saudi Aramco, SABIC and similar projects
• Experience attending FAT/SAT activities and supporting pre-commissioning
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BS, BE or B.Tech)
• Leadership, communication and planning skills, with a good sense of timelines and schedules

Required skills

• Rotating equipment in Oil and Gas, Petrochemicals, Power and Water sectors
• Saudi Aramco, SABIC, DEP, Royal Commission standards and international codes such as ASME, API, ATEX, NEC, NFPA, FM, UL
• Preparing technical specifications and data sheets for pumps and compressors, and mechanical seal systems
• Knowledge of piping, civil, electrical, instrumentation and control requirements
• Static equipment (tanks, columns, reactors, exchangers, pressure vessels) is an advantage
• Experience with QRA, Envid, Hazid, Hazop and SIL studies
