Lead Process Safety Engineer (Offshore)

About the role

KBR is looking for a Lead Process Safety Engineer for offshore projects, based in Al Khobar. The successful candidate has proven experience designing process safety activities from the conceptual stage through detailed design of medium to large projects, with thorough knowledge of process safety, engineering practices, economics, calculation methods, international standards, codes and specifications. The role requires a minimum of 15 years' experience in oil and gas, hydrocarbons and/or infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and check calculations, data sheets, technical notes, requisitions, specifications, drawings and similar deliverables produced within the discipline.
• Act as the single focal point for leading, coordinating, planning and supervising the safety engineering work on the project to improve efficiency and quality.
• Conduct, organise and lead workshops such as PHA, HAZID, HAZOP, SIL and LOPA, and follow up on recommendations and findings.
• Provide technical leadership so that client, KBR and international procedures and standards are applied correctly.
• Integrate with engineers, designers and technical personnel throughout the project.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Process Safety, or an engineering degree from a government-recognised institution.
• 15 years' experience in offshore process safety.
• Experience in oil and gas, hydrocarbons and/or infrastructure; GCC experience, particularly Saudi Aramco, is preferred.
• Proficiency in English, oral and written, and excellent technical presentation skills.

Required skills

• HAZID, HAZOP, SIL and LOPA workshops, hazard and risk management, fire and explosion analysis and dispersion analysis.
• Formal safety assessments, compartmentation, emergency evacuation routes, design safety reviews, layout, F&G and hazardous areas, and active and passive fire protection design.
• Firewater demand calculations, industrial drainage design, and familiarity with Saudi Aramco standards and NFPA requirements (desirable).
