About the role
Canonical is looking for a Linux Devices Software Engineer to join its low‑level system technology teams. You will work on Ubuntu Core, snapd and other embedded Linux solutions for autonomous devices built on x86, ARM or RISC‑V silicon.
Key responsibilities
- Design, implement and maintain high‑performance, memory‑efficient code for embedded Linux platforms.
- Contribute to Ubuntu Core, snapd, kernel drivers and hardware enablement projects.
- Collaborate with silicon partners, OEMs and ODMs to optimise Ubuntu on a variety of chips.
- Perform hardware‑centric Linux QA and certification activities.
- Help shape technical direction and mentor junior engineers.

- Passionate about open‑source, embedded systems and cutting‑edge hardware.
- Careful and conscientious engineer who values reliability in constrained environments.
- Ability to work independently and contribute high‑quality design and code.
