Maintenance Engineer – Heavy Vehicles

About the role

Averda is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to lead and coordinate preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance for heavy‑duty trucks and related equipment. The role ensures safe, efficient, and high‑quality maintenance practices that maximise fleet availability and operational performance.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily workshop operations, allocate resources and ensure timely completion of repairs.
• Develop and manage preventive planned maintenance (PPM) schedules to minimise breakdowns.
• Lead fault diagnosis and corrective repairs to restore vehicles quickly.
• Provide technical expertise across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electronic vehicle systems.
• Perform root‑cause analysis using OEM diagnostic tools and enforce quality standards before vehicle release.
• Optimise workshop workflow, technician utilisation and turnaround times.
• Coordinate spare‑parts availability and inventory management.
• Monitor maintenance costs and identify efficiency opportunities.
• Promote health, safety and environmental compliance in the workshop.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
• Coach and develop workshop personnel to enhance technical capability.
• Collaborate with Operations and Fleet teams to maximise vehicle readiness.
• Manage warranty claims and oversee external service provider repairs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant maintenance experience.
• At least 2–3 years supervising mechanics/technicians in a heavy‑duty truck or commercial‑vehicle workshop.
• Experience with large mixed fleets and specialised vehicles is an advantage.
