Mechanical Engineer - Design

About the role

AECOM is looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Mechanical Engineer - Design to join its engineering team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The engineer designs, develops and optimizes mechanical components and systems, working with cross-functional teams to turn concepts into functional designs while meeting industry standards and manufacturing feasibility.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed mechanical designs and technical drawings using CAD software, adhering to engineering specifications
• Run design analysis and simulations to check performance, stress and durability
• Analyze design requirements and turn them into complete design solutions
• Work with manufacturing, quality and product teams so designs are feasible, cost-effective and aligned with production
• Select materials and analyze them to optimize performance and manufacturing efficiency
• Document design changes, keep design files and project records organized, and archive and version-control files
• Review designs against industry standards, codes and regulations, and take part in design reviews
• Support prototyping and testing with design guidance and troubleshooting

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in mechanical design or product development
• Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Ability to manage several design projects at once and strong organizational skills
• Good communication skills and teamwork ability

Required skills

• Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks or CATIA
• Knowledge of mechanical design principles, engineering fundamentals and manufacturing processes
• Ability to draw detailed technical drawings and design documentation
• Material selection and understanding of material properties
• Familiarity with ISO, ASME or similar standards and quality requirements
• Preferred: FEA and design simulation software, PLM systems, 3D modeling, automotive/aerospace/industrial equipment experience
