Mechanical Engineer - Package

About the role

Fluor is seeking a Mechanical Engineer specialized in package engineering to lead and support complex projects. The role combines technical expertise with administrative oversight to deliver cost‑effective, high‑quality solutions for global clients.

Key responsibilities

• Lead assigned projects or serve as Area Lead, handling moderately complex engineering tasks.
• Apply cost‑competitive execution techniques to develop total project solutions.
• Develop, review, and maintain specifications and design criteria.
• Participate in equipment and material procurement, permitting, and subcontracting activities.
• Perform calculations, specify equipment, and resolve engineering problems.
• Review vendor documentation for compliance and drive discrepancy resolution.
• Analyze issues and provide independent recommendations aligned with project objectives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Accredited four‑year engineering degree (or global equivalent) with at least eight years of relevant experience.
• Professional certification or registration where required.
• Strong communication skills for interaction with management, clients, vendors, and contractors.
• Ability to interpret local, state/province, and national statutes and guidelines.
• Detail‑oriented, time‑effective work habits.
• Professional membership in technical societies (preferred).
• Advanced knowledge of discipline codes, standards, material availability, and cost.
• Experience in effort‑hour estimating and staff forecasting.
• Practical field experience.
• Intermediate proficiency with word processing, email, spreadsheets, and electronic presentation tools.
