MEP Engineer (Mechanical Design)

About the role

AECOM is looking for a detail-oriented, analytical MEP Engineer (Mechanical Design) to join its engineering team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The engineer designs, analyzes and documents mechanical systems for commercial and residential projects, working with architects, structural engineers and other disciplines to deliver efficient, compliant solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems
• Prepare technical drawings, specifications and calculations using industry-standard software
• Perform load calculations, ductwork sizing and system analysis
• Integrate mechanical systems into the overall building design with architects and other MEP disciplines
• Review and approve equipment submittals, shop drawings and contractor documentation
• Ensure designs comply with building codes and standards for Saudi Arabia and the GCC
• Take part in project meetings, design reviews and site inspections, and resolve design conflicts
• Maintain project documentation and support senior engineers and project managers

Required profile

• 10 years of professional experience in MEP mechanical design or a related engineering discipline
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail and organizational skills
• Team player with strong written and spoken English
• Preferred: BIM coordination and modeling, energy modeling and sustainable design, project management experience, advanced Revit features and MEP plugins

Required skills

• Advanced AutoCAD and Revit for mechanical design and documentation
• HVAC design, including load calculations and equipment selection
• Plumbing and fire protection system design principles
• Building codes and standards for Saudi Arabia and the GCC
