Mining Supervisor – First Line Leadership

About the role

The Mining Supervisor is responsible for first‑line leadership of a discipline‑specific team, ensuring safe, efficient and high‑quality production. The role combines hands‑on technical oversight with people management to drive performance across safety, production, maintenance and cost targets.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of artisans/production staff, fostering expertise and motivation.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures, risk assessments, root‑cause and deviation analyses.
• Oversee work‑permit processes and enforce statutory compliance on plant systems.
• Interpret and apply ISO drawings, mechanical/electrical/instrumentation flow diagrams, and technical schematics.
• Manage shutdowns, project execution and corrective‑action implementation.
• Monitor equipment operation, raw‑material usage, quality control and cost efficiency.

Required profile

• High‑school certificate (Maths and Science preferred) with trade test, formal production qualification or engineering diploma.
• Minimum 7 years experience in a relevant production or artisan environment, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong safety awareness, critical thinking and analytical problem‑solving abilities.
• Physical mobility to work in confined spaces, heights and during shutdowns.

Required skills

• Safety procedures: risk assessments, root‑cause analysis, deviation analysis.
• Work‑permit administration.
• Interpretation of mechanical/electrical/instrumentation flow diagrams and ISO drawings.
• Statutory process compliance and regulatory knowledge.
