Occupational Health Doctor – Strategic Lead for Remote Mining Operations

About the role

The Occupational Health Doctor provides strategic leadership and oversight for occupational health and medical services across remote industrial and mining sites. This senior medical professional ensures employees can safely meet the physical, psychological and cognitive demands of their roles while supporting overall wellbeing and emergency readiness.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the Company’s Occupational Health Advisor and Subject Matter Expert.
• Develop, implement and maintain occupational health strategies, policies, standards and procedures.
• Lead medical surveillance programmes for noise, dust, chemicals, heat stress, ergonomics and respiratory hazards.
• Oversee fitness‑for‑duty, pre‑employment, periodic and exit medical assessments.
• Conduct health risk assessments, workplace inspections and investigations of occupational illnesses and accidents.
• Manage clinical governance, audits, quality assurance and continuous improvement of multiple clinic locations.
• Develop emergency medical response plans and support drills and crisis management.
• Administer contracts with outsourced healthcare providers, ensuring compliance with KPIs, SLAs and budgetary controls.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MD or equivalent) with specialization or extensive experience in occupational health.
• Proven experience in occupational health programmes within mining, processing or industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of local, national and international occupational health regulations.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multi‑site medical teams and manage external service providers.
• Experience in health risk assessment, clinical governance and emergency preparedness.
