Ophthalmic Consultant

About the role

The Ophthalmic Consultant will lead the ophthalmology department at Magrabi Hospitals in Jeddah, delivering high‑quality eye care and overseeing clinical activities across the unit.

Key responsibilities

• Report to the Chief of Ophthalmology and manage all professional and administrative activities of the ophthalmic staff.
• Continuously monitor and evaluate the performance of medical staff exercising privileges in the Ophthalmic Unit, providing regular reports at hiring, contract renewal, and reappointment.
• Recommend privilege‑granting criteria to the Chief of Ophthalmology and ensure rigorous quality reviews of patient care.
• Facilitate participation of unit members in continuing education programs and mandatory meetings.
• Maintain quality‑assurance standards for clinical care and research in collaboration with administrative personnel.
• Ensure compliance with Medical Staff bylaws, rules, and regulations.
• Assist the Medical Director and Hospital Administrator in identifying equipment and program needs.

Required profile

• FRCS or PhD in Ophthalmology from an accredited institution.
• Minimum five years of post‑qualification experience.
• Full, unrestricted medical license in the country of origin.

Required skills

• Expertise in ophthalmic clinical practice.
• Familiarity with CBAHI and JCI accreditation standards.
• Ability to lead quality‑assurance initiatives and clinical research.
