Ophthalmic Technician

About the role

Al Salama Hospital is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to join its Ophthalmology/Surgery team. The role involves supporting ophthalmologists by screening patients, performing diagnostic tests, and ensuring accurate, patient‑centric eye care in line with hospital and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Screen patients by measuring visual acuity, checking intra‑ocular pressure (IOP), and administering dilating eye drops.
• Conduct diagnostic procedures such as A/B scan, fundus photography, optical coherence tomography (OCT), visual field testing, fundus fluorescein angiography (FFA) and Pentacam imaging.
• Enter patient information and test results accurately into the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
• Maintain compliance with data confidentiality, documentation standards, and hospital protocols.

Required profile

• Education: Nursing or applied science degree with ophthalmic technician training; specialization in ophthalmology is a plus.
• Experience: Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in an ophthalmic setting.
• Certification: SCFHS‑certified Ophthalmic Technician.
