Patient Care Technician

About the role

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides essential support to nursing staff and acts as a liaison between physicians, patients, and families within a clinical setting. The role involves coordinating clinic activities, preparing equipment, and ensuring patient safety and comfort.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain clinic readiness, cleanliness, and supply levels on a daily basis.
• Assist physicians during examinations and set up required equipment before procedures.
• Organize patient flow and coordinate clinic activities.
• Complete required documentation such as claims and referrals accurately and timely.
• Track patient status and facilitate lab, radiology, or other investigations.
• Process admissions and referrals, answer telephone inquiries, and relay messages promptly.
• Adhere to JCIA/CBAHI patient safety standards, infection control, dress code, and documentation policies.
• Initiate emergency and resuscitative measures when needed.
• Provide patient and family education and maintain confidentiality.
• Perform nursing procedures within the PCT scope, including vital signs, weight/height, glucose checks, ECG, and pain assessments.
• Report observations to supervisors and guide patients to investigation areas.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Science.
• Successful completion of a Patient Care Technician program.
• Preferably some experience in healthcare; fresh graduates with interest are acceptable.
• Valid Saudi Council license.
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.

Required skills

• Vital signs monitoring (including pulse oximetry).
• Patient weight and height measurement.
• Glucose testing.
• ECG operation and pain assessment.
