Plant & Maintenance Assistant

About the role

The Plant & Maintenance Assistant supports the smooth operation of plant equipment by handling minor mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical issues. This role works closely with maintenance teams and operators to minimise downtime and ensure safety standards are met.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and resolve minor mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical problems in plant machinery.
• Perform first‑level troubleshooting to reduce equipment downtime.
• Coordinate with maintenance and OEM service teams for major repairs.
• Execute daily, weekly and preventive maintenance tasks according to schedule.
• Maintain accurate records of breakdowns, repairs and corrective actions.
• Supervise operators, technicians, helpers and contract workers.
• Allocate duties and shifts based on production requirements.
• Ensure operators are trained and competent on assigned equipment.
• Enforce discipline, attendance and work efficiency on site.
• Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings for plant operations.
• Identify unsafe acts or conditions and implement corrective measures.
• Guarantee compliance with statutory, environmental and company safety standards.

Required profile

• Experience working in an industrial or production environment.
• Ability to supervise and allocate tasks to a diverse workforce.
• Strong understanding of safety regulations and preventive maintenance practices.
