Principal Specialist, Data Science & Artificial Intelligence

About the role

Ma'aden, a major multi-commodity mining and metals company, is hiring a Principal Specialist for its Agentic AI department in Riyadh. The role leads advanced data science and analytics initiatives, turning business problems into scalable analytical solutions, AI-enabled insights, predictive models and decision intelligence products that improve productivity and decision-making.

Key responsibilities

• Translate business priorities and operational challenges into data science problem statements and measurable outcomes.
• Design and deliver predictive, prescriptive, diagnostic and exploratory analytics, machine learning models, simulations and optimization approaches.
• Support agentic AI use cases by defining data, model, workflow, evaluation and decision-support requirements, and embed analytics into autonomous or semi-autonomous workflows.
• Create reusable analytical assets, feature logic, model components and decision intelligence products, documented and maintained.
• Apply data science governance: model validation, performance monitoring, bias checks, versioning, deployment readiness and lifecycle management.
• Track success measures, adoption criteria and benefits, and monitor performance after deployment.
• Advise stakeholders on what analytics and AI can realistically solve, and guide analysts, data scientists and engineers on methods, model design and evaluation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, AI, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Information Systems or a related field; Master's preferred.
• At least 10 years of experience in data science, advanced analytics, machine learning, AI solution delivery, decision intelligence or data product development.
• Experience translating business requirements into analytical solutions and deploying analytics into operational workflows.
• Preferred: experience with agentic AI, generative AI, MLOps, responsible AI, cloud data platforms or enterprise analytics environments.
