Principal Specialist, Engineering and ETL (Operational Technology)

About the role

Ma'aden, a major mining and metals company in the Middle East, is hiring a Principal Specialist for Engineering and ETL focused on Operational Technology (OT) in Riyadh. The role builds scalable, secure and reliable OT data engineering capabilities across the enterprise, turning operational data from industrial systems into trusted, analytics-ready information. It defines engineering standards, governance and integration patterns so that high-quality OT data products can be delivered consistently across multiple sites.

Key responsibilities

• Set enterprise standards, frameworks and reference architectures for OT data ingestion, transformation and integration, and define scalable patterns across sites and platforms.
• Build resilient OT data pipelines that deliver reliable, timely and accurate data, with strong handling of reconciliation, latency, backfill, quality validation and exception management.
• Embed governance, lineage, auditability and quality controls, and strengthen OT security, segmentation and compliance.
• Enable trusted OT data products for analytics, reporting, monitoring and AI use cases, and standardize data models, tag structures and transformation logic.
• Provide architectural guidance and technical oversight for complex OT integration projects across sites, including design reviews and delivery assurance.
• Adopt modern engineering practices, improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness, and promote knowledge sharing.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field; Master's preferred.
• 10-15 years of experience in data engineering, ETL and enterprise data integration.
• Experience in OT, industrial, manufacturing, mining or operational data ecosystems.
• Proven experience designing and implementing historian and OT system integration solutions at enterprise scale.
• Experience setting engineering standards, governance frameworks and scalable data delivery practices.
• Exposure to OT systems is advantageous.
