Procurement Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Procurement Engineer to manage the sourcing and purchasing of electrical, mechanical and fabrication materials required for switchgear production. The successful candidate will ensure that all components are obtained on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate and qualify OEM and other suppliers for switchgear components such as circuit breakers, contactors, relays, busbars, sheet metal, gaskets and copper bars.
• Prepare and process purchase requisitions and purchase orders aligned with project specifications.
• Negotiate prices, terms and lead times to achieve cost savings and optimal delivery performance.
• Maintain approved vendor lists and ensure compliance with supplier qualification procedures.
• Coordinate with estimation, design, production, warehouse and quality teams to align material requirements and stock levels.
• Monitor delivery schedules, resolve discrepancies and expedite orders as needed.
• Generate RFQs, comparison sheets, purchase orders and supplier performance reports.
• Ensure all procured materials meet ISO/QA‑QC standards and project specifications.
• Support HSE policies by reporting unsafe conditions and participating in safety activities.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Procurement Engineer or in a similar purchasing role within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of supplier evaluation, qualification and performance monitoring.
• Familiarity with ISO quality standards and HSE regulations.
• Ability to work closely with engineering, production and logistics teams to meet project deadlines.
