QC Inspector - Instrumentation (MRI)

About the role

Samsung E&A, a specialized EPC company covering oil and gas, refinery, petrochemical, energy transition and industrial sectors, is hiring a full-time QC Inspector for Instrumentation (MRI) in Jubail. The inspector performs quality activities according to the project's quality management system, sets up inspection and test plans and records, and ensures work conforms to quality requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and perform inspection of the instrument discipline, generate client Requests for Inspection (RFI) and control inspection status with inspection matrices
• Prepare or review subcontractor documents such as Inspection Test Plans (ITP) and Material Approval Requests (MAR), and approve inspection reports
• Set practical inspection processes, control Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and support corrective actions
• Coordinate inspections with the client, act as QC Supervisor in their absence and run toolbox talks on quality violations
• Review and track material submittals, inspect incoming materials visually and by measurement, and reject unacceptable ones
• Supervise simulation and loop checking, coordinate third-party valve testing of control valves and PSVs, and witness calibrations and test shows
• Conduct preparatory meetings with subcontractors on instrument definable features and track material submittals before them

Required profile

• Experience from project start to completion
• Ability to plan and control inspections for medium-scale projects (0.5 to 1.5 billion dollars)
• Good communication skills and willingness to coordinate on construction issues
• Knowledge of international codes and standards for intrinsically safe and electrical instrumentation systems (e.g. API RP 551, ISA RP 12.6, ISA TR12, ANSI MC96.1, IEEE 518, IEC 60529, NEC, UL 94)
• Able to inspect complete loop checking, wiring continuity and color coding, start-up and troubleshooting
• Ability to evaluate Factory Acceptance Tests and know DCS, SCADA, RTU and ESD systems

Required skills

• Interpretation of drawings such as P&ID, connection lists, hook-ups and data sheets
• ITP study, punch clear management and MC dossier preparation
• Pre-commissioning, plant start-up, operation, maintenance and final hand-over
