Rig Manager – Oil & Gas (Algerian expats)

About the role

The Rig Manager will lead the safe, efficient and cost‑effective operation of a drilling rig for a leading oil & gas client in Saudi Arabia. This senior position requires strong leadership, extensive drilling experience and a commitment to the highest HSE standards.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all drilling, work‑over and maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with budget, schedule and technical specifications.
• Monitor daily drilling reports, operational logs and equipment performance to optimise efficiency.
• Enforce HSE policies and industry standards (API, OSHA, IADC, NEBOSH, ISO 45001) through safety meetings, risk assessments and incident investigations.
• Supervise rig personnel, contractors and service providers, assigning duties, managing performance and ensuring adequate shift coverage.
• Maintain rig equipment, schedule preventive maintenance and coordinate with maintenance teams to resolve mechanical, hydraulic or electrical issues.
• Act as the primary liaison between the rig, corporate office, drilling engineers and third‑party vendors, providing daily updates and performance analysis.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field (preferred).
• Minimum 15 years of drilling operations experience, including at least 3 years in a rig‑management role.
• Proven experience with land and offshore rigs (jack‑up, semi‑submersible, deep‑water, land rigs).

Required skills

• Knowledge of API standards.
• Familiarity with OSHA regulations.
• Understanding of IADC guidelines.
• Experience with NEBOSH certification requirements.
• Compliance with ISO 45001 occupational health and safety management.
