ROS / ROS2 Developer – Software Engineer

About the role

Atwad is seeking an experienced ROS/ROS2 Developer to design and implement software for robotics, autonomous systems, and connected platforms. You will work on embedded and edge‑computer environments, integrating sensors, actuators, and control modules to deliver reliable autonomous solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain ROS/ROS2 packages, nodes, and applications.
• Integrate sensors, actuators, controllers and communication modules.
• Manage robot data flow, messaging, launch systems and system integration.
• Support navigation, perception, control, mapping or autonomy modules as required.
• Interface ROS2 software with embedded firmware and companion computers.
• Debug performance, timing and integration issues on Linux‑based robotic platforms.
• Collaborate with firmware, electronics and mechanical engineering teams.
• Participate in testing, simulation, deployment and documentation activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience with ROS or ROS2.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot real‑time system integration issues.

Required skills

• Strong experience with ROS and ROS2.
• Proficiency in C++ and/or Python.
• Linux development and debugging expertise.
• Git version‑control workflow.
• Sensor and actuator integration (camera, IMU, encoder, motor controller, LiDAR).
• Understanding of ROS concepts: nodes, topics, services, actions, TF, launch files.
