Senior Interior Designer - Themed Fit-Outs

About the role

AECOM is looking for an experienced Interior Designer in Riyadh to lead on-site supervision of interior finishes and themed works in hospitality, entertainment and luxury retail fit-outs. The role covers quality control, sample and mock-up management, shop drawing review and coordination with architects, MEP, lighting and AV teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead on-site supervision of interior finishes and themed works such as rockwork, themed plaster, decorative painting, props, signage, lighting interfaces and paving.
• Inspect sites for colour, texture, finish consistency, dimensions and workmanship against approved samples and design intent.
• Manage the sample and mock-up programme, including First Article inspections and benchmark establishment before bulk production.
• Inspect factory fabrication and pre-delivery verification of materials and finishes.
• Coordinate fit-out installation with architecture, MEP, lighting, AV and show systems, and work with the Design Intent Management team.
• Conduct daily site walks, document progress, identify defects and run snagging and corrective action programmes.
• Monitor progress against programme, review and approve shop drawings and material submissions, and escalate risks to senior team members.
• Maintain site documentation and communicate regularly with contractors, consultants and stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture or a related discipline.
• Minimum 12 years of professional experience in interior design, with expertise in themed environments, hospitality or entertainment.
• Proven track record managing shop drawings, material submissions and First Article inspections, and leading multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong attention to detail, quality assurance and written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to interpret building codes, design standards and specifications in themed and hospitality contexts.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in CAD software and design visualisation tools.
• Knowledge of interior finishes, materials and fabrication processes.
• Experience with site inspections, snagging, corrective action and practical completion.
• Preferred: vendor management, colour theory, lighting design interfaces, AV integration, project management certification and mentoring experience.
