Senior Manager - Design

About the role

AECOM is seeking a Senior Manager – Design to lead architectural guidance and delivery for complex infrastructure projects. You will oversee a specialized segment of the Architectural Discipline, ensuring high‑quality design within schedule and budget constraints while mentoring a diverse team of architects and designers.

Key responsibilities

• Provide architectural calculations, analysis, studies, and recommendations for assigned project segments.
• Manage groups of architects, designers, and specialists, fostering collaboration and high performance.
• Assist Project Architectural or Engineering Managers on complex initiatives and supply technical expertise.
• Oversee project delivery, ensuring compliance with design standards, quality benchmarks, and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and mentor team members, offering constructive feedback and growth opportunities.
• Collaborate with engineering, construction, and client stakeholders to align design solutions with project objectives.
• Manage project budgets and resources, tracking expenditures and optimizing allocation.
• Conduct design reviews and quality assurance assessments to maintain technical excellence.
• Contribute to strategic planning and recommend process improvements within the design discipline.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Design, Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in architectural design, including at least 5 years in a senior or leadership role.
• Proven expertise in architectural design principles, building systems, and construction methodologies.
• Strong knowledge of building codes, regulatory requirements and industry standards such as ADA, IBC and local zoning regulations.
• Demonstrated experience managing and mentoring diverse design teams.
