Senior QC Engineer – Forging

About the role

The Senior QC Engineer – Forging is responsible for ensuring that all forged products meet internal quality standards and customer specifications. This role drives quality control processes across the forging shop, manages inspections, and supports continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Implement QC procedures across the forging shop in line with organizational standards.
• Control non‑conforming products and manage internal NCR processes.
• Prepare forging ITPs and product inspection plans for internal and external audits.
• Perform inspections on raw materials, in‑process components, and finished forged parts according to material standards and API 20B.
• Record inspection results, analyse quality data, and identify trends.
• Manage day‑to‑day inspection activities on the shop floor.
• Liaise with third‑party inspection agencies and oversee final product clearance.
• Analyse root causes of defects and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Maintain and improve quality management systems such as ISO 9001 and API Q1.
• Support customer and third‑party audits together with QA.
• Manage calibration, maintenance, and operation of inspection equipment.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of quality control experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably heavy open‑die forging.
• Knowledge of API Q1 and API 20B standards is preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency with inspection tools: calipers, micrometers, CMM, ultrasonic testers.
• Experience with visual inspection and NDE methods.
• Understanding of metallurgical properties and heat‑treatment processes.
• Familiarity with ASTM and EN standards related to casting and forging.
• Knowledge of API Q1 and API 20B requirements.
• Certification: NDE ASNT / ISO 9712 Level II.
• Good working knowledge of MS Office.
