Senior Structural Engineer – Rail Projects

About the role

The Senior Structural Engineer will lead a team delivering feasibility studies, preliminary and detailed engineering for rail, at‑ground structures and stations on a major rail project in Saudi Arabia. Reporting to the Lead Civil Design Manager, you will be the subject‑matter expert for structural systems, ensuring design quality, schedule adherence and client satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of structural engineers and inspectors, assigning tasks and monitoring deliverables.
• Develop and enforce structural engineering standards, codes and QA/QC procedures across the programme.
• Review design drawings, shop drawings and construction‑phase submittals, providing technical assistance when issues arise.
• Conduct constructability, maintainability and energy performance reviews for structural systems.
• Prepare detailed reports, coordinate internal and external design reviews, and support other discipline leads with structural input.
• Visit project sites to collect data, assess contractor performance and ensure compliance with specifications.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in civil, construction or related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of experience designing and constructing heavy civil structures, preferably in rail or metro projects.
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams and delivering large‑scale projects.
• Strong communication, presentation and client‑management skills.
• Chartered membership of IStructE, ICE or equivalent (desired).

Required skills

• Proficiency with structural analysis and design software: Femap, Strucad, SAP 2000, SACS, Nastran, Inventor, ABAQUS and ANSYS.
• Ability to develop and mentor team members and make high‑level technical decisions.
