Site Mechanical Engineer - Shutdown / Turnaround (Oil & Gas)

About the role

ABIS is looking for a competent Site Mechanical Engineer specializing in shutdown and turnaround projects to join its team in Al Jubail. The engineer oversees mechanical operations during scheduled shutdowns and turnaround activities, coordinating with various teams, monitoring mechanical system performance, inspecting equipment and providing technical support so that critical maintenance work is completed safely, efficiently and to quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, supervise and execute mechanical engineering tasks during shutdown and turnaround projects
• Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors and other engineering disciplines to ensure a smooth workflow
• Inspect and quality-check mechanical equipment and systems
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, project specifications and regulatory requirements
• Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting support to resolve mechanical issues on site
• Prepare progress reports and documentation, and communicate regularly with project stakeholders
• Assist in resource planning and allocation to meet project timelines

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• Proven 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering roles within shutdown and turnaround projects
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, maintenance and repair methodologies
• Excellent organizational, communication and leadership skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Familiarity with safety regulations and quality control standards
