Staff Engineer, Lighting Systems

About the role

Lucid is seeking a Staff Engineer to lead on‑site technical ownership of lighting systems for its vehicle production plants. The role supports prototype builds, launch, ramp‑up and production stabilization, ensuring lighting components meet engineering, quality and program requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Own plant‑related lighting topics including fit, function, packaging, sealing, mounting and assembly feasibility.
• Serve as the primary liaison between the plant, global lighting engineering teams and suppliers.
• Lead root‑cause analysis for lighting issues identified during builds, launch, validation or field feedback.
• Provide mechanical and hardware troubleshooting for lighting modules, brackets, housings, lenses, connectors, PCBs, light guides, harness interfaces and ECUs.
• Review CAD data, 2D drawings, GD&T, specifications, EBOMs, DFMEA, PFMEA, DVP&R and supplier documents to support execution.
• Coordinate engineering changes, deviations, temporary approvals and design improvements to meet production timelines.
• Participate in line trials, build events and quality reviews.

Required profile

• Hands‑on engineer with strong mechanical design and hardware integration experience.
• Proven ability to work with high ownership, urgency and accountability.
• Experience in supplier coordination, validation and manufacturing support.
• Comfort operating in a fast‑paced automotive production environment.
